Ciara Vernon is a Production Designer & Art Director based in Toronto. Born in Hong Kong and growing up in Perth, Western Australia, she has always had a strong desire to explore the world around her. 

 

Ciara moved to Toronto to continue her education, completing the final semester of her Curtin University degree abroad in the Ryerson Image Arts Film Program. She has also attained a graduate certificate in Design for Arts and Entertainment at the Ryerson Chang School.

 

Since graduating Ciara has worked on a number of award-winning projects. Most recently released was A24's critically acclaimed Share, an official selection of Cannes and multiple award-winner at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

 

Ciara art directed the Toronto portion of UK co-production The Nest  from director Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene). The Nest is a 1980’s psychothriller feature film starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon, which recently had its successful premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2020.

She was the production designer on the CBC Gem series Hey Lady! directed by Sarah Polley, Adriana Maggs and Will Bowes. Hey Lady! also premiered at Sundance 2020 in the Indie Episodic Program. Ciara was nominated for a DGC award for Best Production Design - Comedy or Family Series for her work on the project.

Ciara production designed the feature The Cuban directed by Sergio Navaretta, starring Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. and Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo, along with Ana Golja (Degrassi), Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy). The Cuban premiered at Whistler Film Festival 2020 and took home multiple awards during its festival circuit.

Recently she designed the thriller feature See For Me, directed by Randall Okita and produced by Wildling Pictures. Ciara just wrapped production on 9 Films About Technology, a new FX series directed by Peter Huang.

Ciara prides herself on being able to create unique environments for Film and Television across various scales and genres. She is always looking for new opportunities and collaborators to work with.
