Ciara Vernon is a Production Designer based in Toronto. Born in Hong Kong and growing up in Perth, Western Australia, she has always had a strong desire to explore the world around her. She moved to Canada in 2011 and has now been working in the Toronto film industry for over a decade.
Ciara has worked on a number of award-winning projects. She most recently wrapped production on the feature Young Werther, starring Alison Pill and Douglas Booth.
She has also production designed a number of network television series. This includes the last two seasons of the Netflix/CBC hit series Workin’ Moms, created by Catherine Reitman.
Her other series work includes designing the FX series 9 Films About Technology, a 9-part dark comedy anthology series, as well as the upcoming Crave series Late Bloomer, created by Jasmeet Raina.
Ciara designed the thriller feature film See For Me, directed by Randall Okita and starring visually impaired actor Skyler Davenport. See For Me had its successful premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.
She production designed the CBC Gem series Hey Lady! directed by Sarah Polley, Adriana Maggs and Will Bowes. Hey Lady! premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2020 in the Indie Episodic Program. Ciara was nominated for a DGC award for Best Production Design - Comedy or Family Series for her work on the project.
Ciara art directed the Toronto portion of UK co-production The Nest from director Sean Durkin. The Nest is a 1980’s psychothriller feature film starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon, which also had its successful premiere at Sundance 2020.
Her most recent feature film, Ally Pankiw’s debut feature I Used to Be Funny starring Rachel Sennott, just had its world premiere at SXSW Film Festival 2023.
Ciara prides herself on being able to create unique environments for Film and Television across various scales and genres. She is always looking for new opportunities and collaborators to work with.
Ciara is permitted to work in Canada, Australia and the UK.
