Ciara Vernon is a Production Designer & Art Director based in Toronto. Born in Hong Kong and growing up in Perth, Western Australia, she has always had a strong desire to explore the world around her. 

 

Ciara moved to Toronto to continue her education, completing her Curtin University degree abroad in the Ryerson Image Arts Film Program. She has also attained a graduate certificate in Design for Arts & Entertainment at the Ryerson Chang School.

 

Ciara has worked on a number of award-winning projects. Recently released was A24's critically acclaimed Share, an official selection of Cannes and multiple award-winner at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

 

She production designed the CBC Gem series Hey Lady! directed by Sarah Polley, Adriana Maggs and Will Bowes. Hey Lady! premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2020 in the Indie Episodic Program. Ciara was nominated for a DGC award for Best Production Design - Comedy or Family Series for her work on the project.

Ciara art directed the Toronto portion of UK co-production The Nest from director Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene). The Nest is a 1980’s psychothriller feature film starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon, which also had its successful premiere at Sundance 2020.

Ciara designed the feature The Cuban directed by Sergio Navaretta, starring Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. and Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo. The Cuban premiered at Whistler Film Festival 2020 and took home multiple awards during its festival circuit.

Recently she was the production designer for the upcoming FX series 9 Films About Technology, a 9-part anthology series directed by Peter Huang.

Ciara also recently designed the thriller feature See For Me, directed by Randall Okita and starring visually impaired actor Skyler Davenport, due to be released in 2021.

Ciara prides herself on being able to create unique environments for Film and Television across various scales and genres. She is always looking for new opportunities and collaborators to work with.
