Ciara Vernon is a Production Designer based in Toronto. Born in Hong Kong and growing up in Perth, Western Australia, she has always had a strong desire to explore the world around her. She moved to Canada in 2011 and has now been working in the Toronto film industry for over a decade.

 

Ciara has worked on a number of award-winning projects.

Her most recent feature film Young Werther, starring Alison Pill and Douglas Booth, had its successful premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

Ciara also designed Ally Pankiw’s debut feature I Used to Be Funny starring Rachel Sennott, premiering at SXSW Film Festival 2023.

She has also production designed a number of network television series. This includes the final two seasons of the Netflix/CBC hit series Workin’ Moms, created by Catherine Reitman.

Her other series work includes the Crave series Late Bloomer, created by Jasmeet Raina. She has been nominated for a 2025 Canadian Screen Award for her work on Season 1 and recently wrapped production on Season 2. 

 

She production designed the CBC Gem series Hey Lady! directed by Sarah Polley, Adriana Maggs and Will Bowes. Hey Lady! premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2020 in the Indie Episodic Program. Ciara was nominated for a DGC award for Best Production Design - Comedy or Family Series for her work on the project.

 

Ciara also designed the FX series 9 Films About Technology, a 9-part dark comedy anthology series directed by Peter Huang.

Ciara designed the thriller feature film See For Me, directed by Randall Okita and starring visually impaired actor Skyler Davenport. See For Me had its successful premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

She most recently wrapped production on the feature film Forbidden Fruits, directed by Meredith Alloway and starring Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp and Emma Chamberlain.

 

Ciara prides herself on being able to create unique environments for Film and Television across various scales and genres. She is always looking for new opportunities and collaborators to work with.

Ciara is permitted to work in Canada, Australia and the UK.
